EPW - Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, lever reverse fusee, 48mm, 18K gold original consular HC bearing London hallmarks for 1851, "F M" marking in cameo for casemaker Frederick Samuel Matthews, front shield with small engraving of a duck above initials, "Arnold Chas Frodsham 7174" marked white enamel SS dial, KWKS, fully capped lever escapement, diamond endstone, 17J, gilt 1/2 plate mvt, s#7174 with matching serial number to dial. Gross weight of assembled watch 64.7 dwt (100.7 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, ticking in dial down position but stops when turned dial up, overhaul needed, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered micro-fine scratches, ultra-fine scratch striations to plate surface likely from a past light wiping; dial with hl above seconds-register; excellent hands; case with broken or missing front lift spring, case shows medium wear, profuse fine scratches to fixed cuvette, some scratches and small marring to fixed cuvette at perimeter right of pendant from past misguided attempts to open, some mild shallow dings or small dents to rear and cuvette, reduced engine turning detail with loss of shoulders; tight bow; good glass crystal.
